Karaoke: Learning Music By Taped Lessons

Karaoke is just a bit of fun, no? Not quite - the truth is
that kids can learn about music just by joining in with
those karaoke tapes. That is not all - it can improve
their recall, their reading and inter personal abilities.
There are also karaoke tapes that are educational in
design, aiming to teach science, about the environment and
health. Not bad from a tape (or CD) with a set of
well-loved songs and words.
When I was a kid I would join in with the records on the
radio. I would record the best loved tunes for repeated
listening and so I could join in like I was the lead
singer. From time to time my mother would give in to the
nagging and buy me a record - sometimes the the lyrics to
these kids tunes would be included in a sheet that came
with the disc. After hours and hours of replays I would
know all the words. My folks did not have the spare cash
for singing lessons, but learning to sing along with the
starts of the day gave me the confidence to audition for
concerts and plays at school. Thanks to karaoke-style
practicing I landed a few lead roles!
You child does not need to want to be in school plays or
concerts for them to benefit from using karaoke tapes and
CDs. Learning, rehearsing and performing songs can be a
useful learning experience that can help with other
childhood and class activities such as having to do an oral
report in front of the class. This activity can be made
much easier with background music to help. Certain karaoke
tapes are interactive in that they can provide feedback
about vocal skills. Any child who is interested in
developing their vocal skills will benefit from these good
value tapes. As a matter of fact children will naturally
develop strength in their upper bodies and the muscles of
their vocal chords without these special karaoke lessons,
just by singing along.
Sing along tapes for children and Children's Karaoke are
slightly different in that with the sing along option the
CD or tape really only gives background music and a song
sheet with lyrics on it. As such, the sing along tapes
require that the child already knows how the song goes
before they can accompany it. The karaoke tapes and CDs,
on the other hand, don't require that the child memorizes
the lyrics or the tune so that they can sing along. This
is because some of them let you listen to the backing
singers first. With karaoke CDs and DVDs the lyrics are
shown not just line by line but the words that should be
sung at that moment in time are emphasized. In this way
children know when to hold onto a note for the right length
of time and to pace themselves when following the tune.
Some of the more popular karaoke music for children on
today's market comes from Disney Karaoke. Several online
karaoke warehouses sell tons of children's karaoke. For
instance, AceKaraoke.com and Amazon.com carry a large
selection of popular karaoke for children such as nursery
rhymes to the American Idol Show hits, as well as easy to
use karaoke machines that are well-loved by kids.
